Elly Alboim

Today on the show, a man who’s played significant roles in my personal and political life as my friend, colleague, conscience, mentor, and teacher … Elly Alboim.

If you don’t know Elly, here are the professional facts. He was a journalist for the CBC for 23 years becoming Parliamentary Bureau Chief for Television News and National Political Editor for the network. He has advised government, and industry, on some of the most important issues of our time: the environment, finance, health and human resources, justice and many more. He was a senior advisor to Paul Martin during his time as Finance Minister and Prime Minister as well as serving on election steering committees for Mr. Martin and Premier Kathleen Wynne. Today, he’s a Principal at Earnscliffe Strategies where he leads Strategic Communications. As if all of that isn’t enough, Elly is also a tenured Associate Professor of Journalism at Carleton University, specializing in television news and political reporting.

Elly was described as wise when he was still too young to be wise, but he always has been. I seek his counsel on most things. He’s somebody you ought to know and once you listen to this episode you'll soon see why. I’m so pleased to welcome Elly to The Herle Burly.
